Postpartum and Beyond

Company Name: Postpartum and Beyond

Services Offered: Postpartum Doula

My name is Kelsey (she/her) and I am a postpartum doula working in the Toronto and Innisfil area. Currently, I am transitioning into postpartum care, working with families in-home as well as virtually to empower your postpartum experience by providing you with the support you need to feel confident in Postpartum & Beyond. Postpartum support ranges from newborn care to maternal recovery; from registry support, product knowledge, nursery organization, and printables to parental respite.

Before I specialized in postpartum care, I worked as a Child and Youth Practitioner in several roles. My most recent experience has been working with 4-29-year-olds as a Child & Youth Care Practitioner, with children and youth who had different needs (Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Behavioural Challenges), or were at higher risk for experiencing violence based on social location (racism, poverty, gender-based violence, neighbourhood, etc.).

Over the past 5 years, I have been supporting black survivors of gender-based violence as well as survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). My role now is to connect families to information and community to create pathways of healing during the postpartum period. I continuously strive to raise awareness about the impact of childhood sexual abuse and sexual trauma on individuals as well as families, especially in the context of understanding generational trauma, and how we teach consent and sexual health. I am currently working towards completing my Certification for Postpartum Care, as well as completing my Bachelor of Community Development. I have completed my ASIST training meaning I am comfortable talking about anxiety, depression, and suicide.
