Ams Sweiger (they/themme) is a queer, non-binary, white settler practicing Birth work in Tkaronto.

Ams is a newborn care specialist who provides postpartum and grief support to families in community, as well as a birth and abortion doula with training in supporting 2SLGBTQ+ fertility and cultural safety. They take great pride in providing customized care plans for parents and families with disabilities, supporting survivors of violence and abuse; as well as full spectrum care to people who use drugs and alcohol as someone with lived experience. This can include accompaniments to appointments with medical providers and social support organizations.

Ams is working towards becoming a midwife through Ryerson’s Midwifery Education Program. They are committed to continually learning how to better support the needs of clients and their families.

They previously worked as a counselor and support worker for women and trans people; providing housing, food security, and trauma informed care. They approach relationships through a client centred lens, knowing people know their own needs best, and maintaining that their position is to be a support and guide while navigating systemically unjust systems.

They are an experienced researcher and consultant on 2SLGBTQ+ service provision and available for organizational audits.
